Clients with hypermobility often experience frequent falls, subluxations and dislocations, resulting in a referral to the hand therapy clinic - then what do we do?! This webinar will explore the complexities of hypermobility syndromes and the various wrist instability patterns that may occur from attenuated or lax ligaments and acquired injuries from falls. Participants will navigate DISI and VISI deformities of both the proximal carpal row and the midcarpal joint, and classify activities and positions that harm as well as those that help these complex conditions. The recent evidence for proprioceptive neuromuscular control programing will be explored and applied to instability conditions of the wrist. Mental health implications and comprehensive care that addresses the needs of the whole person are also addressed.   1. Examine psychosocial implications of living with hypermobility syndromes
  2. Explain the neuromuscular control feedback loop required for joint stability
  3. Critique which instability patterns benefit from dart thrower’s motion and which do not
  4. Differentiate between the various types of instability patterns of the wrist and match with effective interventions strategies
