2024 Call for Sessions Now Open!

Posted by Staff 12/19/2023

ASHT invites you to submit your proposals for Pre-Conference Institutes, Instructional Concurrent Sessions and Clinical Practice Posters for our 2024 Annual Meeting. This is your chance to share your innovations, lead the conversations and help shape the agenda for the upcoming Annual Meeting.

The 2024 theme – “Integrating Perspectives: Learning, Collaborating and Innovating” – highlights and celebrates the richness of what we can learn from each other within our specialty, as well as from perspectives and disciplines outside of our specialty.

Visit our Annual Meeting page to view proposal templates, example proposals, frequently asked questions and submit your proposal! The deadline to submit is February 23, 2024.

Specific Priorities Within This Year’s Theme

Multidisciplinary perspectives - To address this priority, think beyond our wonderful therapist-surgeon collaborations to integration of perspectives from psychology, education, engineering, sociology, the arts, neuroscience, lifestyle medicine and many others, as well as cultural worldviews.

Inclusion of the lived experience - There is much we can learn from those living with the conditions we treat. Where relevant, addressing this priority can take the form of including a local speaker with lived experience or including a brief video of an individual with lived experience.

Knowledge translation and practice improvement - The evidence to practice gap remains one of our largest challenges. This is an opportunity to highlight how you are creating a culture of evidence and practice improvement and translating research to guide your clinical care.

The “quintuple aim” of healthcare - The context of care in which we deliver services continues to rapidly evolve. How are we positioning ourselves to support value-based care, including focusing on improving patient outcomes, enhancing patient experiences, lowering costs, supporting clinician well-being and ensuring health equity?

Session Type Descriptions

Pre-Conference Institutes are two-hour or four-hour courses intended to be a deeper dive into a topic. They often include interactive lab components, and the number of attendees may be capped. These courses are held Thursday before the main meeting starts.

Instructional Concurrent Session are 60-minute instructional sessions. They can take a variety of formats, including a more traditional lecture by one or more presenters, a series of linked short talks, a panel or debate, etc.

Clinical Practice Posters (NEW for 2024) are non-research posters that can highlight a clinical innovation, a complex case, a knowledge translation or clinical implementation story, etc. Research-focused posters that include original data are better suited for the call for abstracts from the Research Division that will open in March 2024.
