In-person Course
This three-day in-person comprehensive review course is designed to prepare therapists for advanced practice and certification in upper extremity rehabilitation by providing an in-depth review of foundational and clinical concepts essential to hand therapy. Through a combination of lecture-based instruction, cadaver anatomy review, and expert-led clinical application, participants will strengthen their understanding of upper extremity anatomy, kinesiology, evaluation, and intervention strategies commonly encountered in hand therapy practice.
Course content will include detailed review of the anatomy and biomechanics of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand, including the brachial plexus and peripheral innervation patterns of the upper extremity. Faculty-guided cadaver laboratory sessions will provide participants with the opportunity to correlate anatomical structures with functional movement and clinical presentation through direct observation of upper extremity specimens.
In addition to foundational sciences, the course will provide a comprehensive review of examination, evaluation, and treatment principles for common diagnoses encountered in upper extremity rehabilitation. Experienced clinicians will present evidence-informed approaches to clinical reasoning, differential diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, orthotic considerations, and rehabilitation progression across a variety of post-surgical, traumatic, neurological, tendon, nerve, and musculoskeletal conditions.
