This webinar will discuss the treatment of thumb CMC arthritis through a biomechanical lens to understand this unique saddle-shaped joint that allows high mobility, but is prone to instability. We will discuss a multimodal approach to rehabilitation including new research and treatment approaches to restore stability, reduce pain and improve hand function.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants will:

  • Identify thumb osteokinematics related to hand function
  • Recognize arthrokinematics related to restoring thumb mobility for hand function
  • Apply learned treatment methods in their clinical practice
  • Identify orthotics options for thumb CMC OA based on evidence-based research
