Webinar Description: This webinar will provide practical, hand therapy–specific guidance on billing and coding to support compliant reimbursement across diverse practice settings. Content will focus on evaluation complexity selection, reevaluation use, concurrent CPT coding, modifier application, Medicare therapy thresholds, and orthotic (L code) billing, with emphasis on common areas of confusion and audit risk for OT and PT Certified Hand Therapists. The webinar is designed to improve coding accuracy, documentation defensibility, and consistency, while reducing claim denials and underutilization of appropriate codes.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants will:

  1. Select the appropriate evaluation and re evaluation CPT codes for OT and PT services based on patient complexity and clinical decision making.
  2. Apply Medicare therapy threshold rules, including correct use of the KX modifier, to support continued medically necessary care.
  3. Identify CPT code combinations that are restricted or allowed under NCCI edits, and apply modifiers correctly when documentation supports distinct services.
  4. Differentiate between custom fabricated and custom fitted orthoses and assign correct L codes based on CMS definitions.
  5. Identify documentation requirements for orthotic billing, including proof of delivery and MAC specific considerations.
  6. Implement practical billing and coding strategies to reduce denials and improve compliance in outpatient hand therapy practice.
