2025 Proposed Bylaws Revision: Standing Pediatric Committee
ASHT has sought to develop pediatric hand and upper extremity therapy projects over the past few years. In order to advance specialized care and research in pediatric hand therapy, the ASHT Board of Directors believes it is important to establish a standing Pediatric Committee to ensure the ongoing impact and development of these and other initiatives.
ASHT members will asked to approve this change as part of a proposed bylaws revision during the 2025 board election. Voting is open June 5 through 11:59 p.m. ET July 2, 2025.
If approved, the transition from a task force to a standing committee will ensure continuity and quality in pediatric hand and upper extremity therapy projects. The goal is to foster engagement and development of ASHT members in pediatric hand therapy, assist with the creation of action plans and provide members with opportunities to enhance their clinical and leadership skills. This committee aims to cultivate practitioners who can lead advancements and provide optimal care for pediatric patients in today’s evolving healthcare landscape. Additionally, the committee will actively engage and connect the broader pediatric hand therapy community to share knowledge, collaborate on best practices and strengthen the field as a whole. It will also work to ensure the infusion of pediatric content throughout ASHT's initiatives, resources and products, ensuring that pediatric considerations are consistently integrated into all aspects of the society’s work.
This proposed bylaws change also includes updates to board liaison roles and the addition of clarifying language related to board candidate eligibility.
