Did you know the Tuesday following Thanksgiving marks a widely recognized global day of giving? One of the best ways to get involved in Giving Tuesday is in your own community. Get involved with your organization, ASHT, and help kick off the charitable season!
ASHT has funds available for the sole purpose of advancing the science and practice of hand therapy through specific projects or initiatives. By donating to one of ASHT’s established funds below, you can make a difference.
Vision Fund
Supports ASHT’s strategic initiatives in advocacy, education and research. Recent initiatives supported by this fund, such as the 2016 AOTA-ASHT Capitol Hill Day, have helped ASHT educate our nation’s legislators on the issues impacting the provision of hand therapy services.
Annual Meeting Sessions Fund
Supports growth of continued evidence-based programs and learning opportunities to help ASHT members meet the demands of their practices. This year, the cost of a cadaver arm used in a dissection plenary session at the 39th Annual Meeting in Washington, DC was covered by this fund.
Awards and Scholarship Fund
Supports continuing education for the next generation of hand therapy professionals. In June 2016, monies from this fund were donated to the Evelyn Mackin Triennial Award, allowing therapists from developing countries to attend the IFSHT 2016 Triennial Congress.
NEW
An exciting new ASHT fundraising initiative supports the new Legislative Action Center, which will launch in the beginning of 2017. This platform will facilitate ASHT members communicating with their lawmakers to let their voices be heard on important legislative and regulatory issues. As Marsha Lawrence notes in her October 28 blog, if every member contributes $10.50, this platform will be fully funded for the next three years. Every little bit counts, and what a great cause to contribute to on Giving Tuesday. Donations of any size can make a difference, so help ASHT strenthen the voice of hand therapy by supporting this Legislative Action Center through your donation to the Vision Fund.
Donations can be made directly on the ASHT website, as part of your 2017 dues renewal, by mailing a check to ASHT Headquarters (1120 Route 73, Mount Laurel, Suite 200, NJ 08054) and while on site at the ASHT Annual Meeting.
