Learning Objectives:
At the end of the presentation, participants will be able to:
1. Identify appropriate splints necessary for ulnar and median nerve injuries.
2. Identify three functional adaptations for functional activities for a patient following median and ulnar nerve injury.
3. Recognize signs of returning nerve function and identify appropriate steps to progress strength.
4. Evaluate a patient with a peripheral nerve injury and identify initial steps for sensory re-education.

The Pediatric Case Reviews is a series of monthly live online case presentations of pediatric upper extremity diagnoses. Each month a case will be presented to include a brief description of the diagnosis, objective findings, and therapeutic interventions. The presenter will also discuss their clinical decision-making process and how they navigated any challenges.

Katherine Henry OTD, OTR/L is a pediatric hand therapy fellow at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and Medical Center. Throughout her fellowship in Cincinnati, she has the opportunity to work with patients with a diverse range of pediatric hand diagnoses in outpatient and multidisciplinary clinic settings. She is a recent graduate of Belmont University’s Doctor of Occupational Therapy program, having completed Level II Fieldwork in adult outpatient hand and pediatric acute care settings. She is passionate about providing patient- and family-centered care to all patients and ensuring each small moment of growth is acknowledged and appreciated.
