ASHT is seeking two qualified co-chairs to share responsibility for the development and management of the inaugural Sports Specialty Day education program during our 2027 Annual Meeting.
The Sports Specialty Day will take place October 13, 2027 in Portland, OR as a full day before the main Annual Meeting begins. The co-chairs will work closely with the Annual Meeting Committee Chair, Vice Chair, committee, board liaison, and Headquarters staff team to organize, select, and manage the specialty program.
Responsibilities
In cooperation with the Annual Meeting Committee Chair, Vice Chair, committee, board liaison, and Headquarters staff team:
- Develop format, determine content and coordinate topics for the Sports Specialty Day program
- Incorporate current issues and evidence-based practice
- Foster collaboration between sports topic areas
- Identify and invite primary/keynote speakers
- Identify potential vendors to support the programming
- Coordinate an open call for sessions
- Oversee the review process of submissions
- Timely communication with presenters
- Facilitate communication among presenters as appropriate
- Timely communication with the Annual Meeting Committee Chair, Vice Chair, board liaison and Headquarters staff team
- Support additional requests as needed
- Attend the ASHT 2027 Annual Meeting in Portland, OR
- Facilitate and support the Sports Specialty Day during the Annual Meeting
- Serve as an ad-hoc member of the Annual Meeting Committee
- Serve as the public face of the Sport Specialty Day program
Qualifications
- Active or Associate member of ASHT in good standing
- Attended at least one previous ASHT Annual Meeting
- CHT credential preferred but not required
- Experience serving on an ASHT Annual Meeting Committee or in a similar role with another society/organization
- Able to dedicate the time to contribute to the success of Sports Specialty Day
- Experience/connections in the sports and hand and upper extremity therapy community preferred
