I never had the pleasure of meeting Mary Kasch personally, but what an amazing lady she was. After I found out that I would be the first recipient of the Mary Kasch Hand Therapy Certification Scholarship, I was fortunate enough to speak with many of Mary's dear friends and colleagues. I learned of her tireless work with HTCC, ASHT and AHTF and her desire for all physical and occupational therapist working with hand patients to become CHTs. She was a lovely person, a generous spirit and a true friend.
What an honor to be blessed with the scholarship bearing her name.
The whole process of being involved with the Hand Therapy Tri-Alliance as the scholarship recipient has been a ball. I was able to attend the ASHT Hand Therapy Review Course in Baltimore, which was an amazing course and a "must-do" for those studying for the test. I purchased some reading materials and was able to attend the ASHT Annual Meeting in Chicago where I met some amazing people in our field. I truly felt like a valued member of our profession. Somehow, the goal of becoming a CHT seemed more real and more attainable.
I want to thank the Hand Therapy Tri-Alliance for the honor and financial blessing of the Mary Kasch Scholarship. I am grateful beyond measure.
I would encourage any aspiring CHT to apply for the Mary Kasch Hand Therapy Certification Scholarship. Give it a try – you never know what could happen.
