Vision is a destination – a fixed point to which we focus all effort. Strategy is a route – an adaptable path to get us where we want to go. — Simon Sinek
Unforeseen life events can necessitate a pivot. Sometimes the burden of sudden change can be overwhelming and it is hard to know what the next step should be. In 2020, I imagine we have all been feeling like the world is yelling at us to pivot around the corner with a heavy sofa, like Ross on Friends...”Pivot, Pivot, Pivooooot”…and we are having trouble figuring out how.
We in the Education Division have definitely had to figure out how we continue providing quality education products to our members in the midst of a pandemic. Making the decision to cancel live courses has been tough but necessary. But we continue to take seriously our responsibility to continue to work toward ASHT’s mission (to build and support our community of professionals dedicated to the excellence of hand and upper extremity therapy) and vision (to continue to be the recognized leader in advancing the science and practice of hand and upper extremity therapy through education, advocacy, research and clinical standards).
A pivot is a change in strategy without a change in vision. — Eric Ries
After having to cancel our last three Hand Therapy Review Courses, we knew we needed to find another way to support OTs and PTs studying for the CHT exam. And we knew it would have to be engaging and dynamic in order to live up to our standards for the live course. After a lot of brainstorming and planning, we are so proud to announce the Hand Therapy Review Course is going virtual, and we are excited about the lineup of speakers and sessions we will be offering. We will have an overarching array of topics provided by dynamic speakers, including:
- Diane Coker
- Hannah Gift
- Sheri Roberts
- Nora Barrett
- Paige Kurtz
- Kendyl Brock Hunter
- Rachel Pigott
- Rebecca Saunders
- Cindy Glaenzer
- Romina Astifidis
- Tambra Marik
- Becky Neidusky
In addition, we are honored to welcome three amazing surgeons who will be providing a professionally filmed cadaver dissection series: Dr. Charles Andrew Daly, Dr. Michael Gottschalk and Dr. Eric Wagner.
Even if you aren’t studying for the CHT Exam, we believe this will be a great review and update for any practicing hand therapist. We hope you will join us! Registration is already open and the sessions will be available for viewing in September.
Keep your eyes on the destination and let’s keep supporting each other!
